May is National Walking Month

In 2012 the County Council is supporting National Walking Month, which is promoted by the charity Living Streets and the social enterprise Walk England.
National Walking Month includes Walk to Work Week from 14-18 May and Walk to School Week from 21-25 May
As part of National Walking Month the County Council will be working with our partners in a selection of locations to highlight reasons and opportunities for walking everyday, for school, for work, and for health and for leisure. We'll be publicising some key developments and launching several new routes and publications.
This year there won't be a separate programme of public guided walks and rambles as there has been previously with Leicestershire Walking Weeks, as a wide range of such walks are already available from other organisations, details of many of these are included on the other web pages listed below.
In addition, the County Council is supporting the National Forest Walking Festival which is from 19-31 May.
