Attendance Improvement Service (formerly Education Welfare Service)Service DescriptionAttendance Improvement ServiceThe Local Education Authority discharges its legal obligation with regard to school attendance through the Attendance Improvement Service (AIS). It seeks to do this in partnership both with families and with schools in order to ensure that young people receive the education to which they are entitled. In addition, the AIS has core duties relating to;
Attendance Improvement Officers (AIOs) AIO's work closely with schools, families and students to identify and assist children with school related problems including truancy. AIO's role is to support families to ensure their child/children attend as much of their education provision.
What happens if I remove my child from their school All parents have a legal responsibility to send their child/children to school. If you remove your child from school, you must ensure that you make other arrangements for your child to attend their education.
