Highway Boundary Enquiries*NEW* - You can now pay for enquiries online! The County Council is the Highway Authority for the districts in Leicestershire excluding M1, M6, M69, A1, A5, A42, A46, A50 from M1 junction 24 to the Derbyshire border, A52, A453 from M1 junction 23A, A14 and City of Leicester roads. Highway AdoptionsThis section contains useful information about the procedures involved in adopting highway, usually tied in with development. This includes information on Section 38 and 278 agreements.

Highway ExtinguishmentsAn ‘Extinguishment’ is a procedure which enables a landowner to legally acquire an area of public highway which can then be included within their property boundary as private land. The procedures and costs involved in doing this can be found within this section.

Highways Status Search – List Of Streets Highways Act 1980 Section 36(6) & (7)
Leicestershire County Council are required to keep an up-to-date list of streets maintained at public expense under Section 36(6) & (7) of the Highways Act 1980.
