Local Searches

This section is useful for private search companies and individuals who need to access the information required to complete a local search (CON29).

Highway Boundary Enquiries

The County Council is the Highway Authority for the districts in Leicestershire excluding M1, M6, M69, A1, A5, A42, A46, A50 from M1 junction 24 to the Derbyshire border, A52, A453 from M1 junction 23A, A14 and City of Leicester roads.

Highway Extinguishments

An ‘Extinguishment’ is a procedure which enables a landowner to legally acquire an area of public highway which can then be included within their property boundary as private land.

Leicestershire County Council are required to keep an up-to-date list of streets maintained at public expense under Section 36(6) & (7) of the Highways Act 1980.
