Reading Groups
In December 2010 the service to reading groups was suspended pending recommendations regarding future service delivery options that come out of the current review of Library, Heritage and Arts services.
The collections that formed the basis of the Reading Circles Booklist have been disbanded and redistributed.
Interim measures have been put in place to support the 100 existing Groups in Leicestershire but Leicestershire Library Services regret that they do not have the capacity at present to support any new groups.
Although many reading groups work on a model where everybody attending reads the same book, there are other models available. The Books Connect Reading Pack , below, has some other suggestions that you might find helpful or try reading Bloomsbury’s Essential Guide for Reading Groups by S. Osborne for advice on getting started.
The Books Connect Reading Pack
East Midlands Libraries have produced a useful pack for reading groups. The pack gives suggestions on how to organise and run a reading group, and ideas for how your group can operate. You can print one at your local library, or download the files here.
