Dr Bike provides free MOT for cycles
Cyclists with terrible tyres, broken brakes and poor pedals will have the opportunity to MOT their bikes with a free session organised by Leicestershire County Council.
Dr Bike, from Soar Valley Cycles in Loughborough, will be at Loughborough Market on Saturday, July 28 between 9.30am and 11.30am to administer to any cycles in need of some TLC.
The 15 minute sessions include safety checks where brakes, loose seats and handle bars are checked and adjusted if necessary.
A travel clinic will also be held at the same time, where people can speak to advisors and find out more about walking, cycling or catching the bus in Loughborough.
As well as carrying out free repairs, Dr Bike will also be able to advise on adjustments that could be made to enhance the bike’s performance.
Once Dr Bike has finished with the bike he turns his attention to the cyclist, assessing seating position and any additional needs such as lights. He can also demonstrate how to pump up tyres and repair punctures.
Booking for these sessions is essential. To book a 15 minute slot send an email entitled ‘Dr Bike 28 July’ to choosehowyoumove@leics.gov.uk or call 0116 3057098.
- This initiative is part of the Choose How You Move - Smarter Travel for Business Project which is part funded by the Department for Transport and led by Leicestershire County Council supported local partners to deliver projects in Loughborough and Coalville.
The project will work to improve the local environment by reducing carbon emissions, easing congestion and bringing benefits to businesses and individuals by changing the way people travel. For more information visit www.choosehowyoumove.co.uk or call 0116 3050002.
