Beyond Bullying Award for schools
Twenty one Leicestershire schools will be honoured at a celebration event after achieving a Beyond Bullying Award.
The ‘Beyond Bullying Award’ is aimed at schools that have Healthy Schools status and are working towards becoming an 'Enhanced Healthy School'.
Changes in national legislation mean that the responsibility for anti-bullying has now shifted to schools. However, Leicestershire County Council’s anti-bullying team continues to support schools and focuses on preventing bullying at an early stage.
The event, hosted by the council's anti-bullying team, is being held tomorrow (July 4) at Snibston Discovery Museum.
Ivan Ould, County Council Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: ‘We have been delighted with the success of the Beyond Bullying Award and we are keen to ensure that with the continued support of the council’s anti-bullying team we can work with schools to help create an environment where all members of the school community feel welcome, valued and safe.”
The Beyond-Bullying Award is an important new way for schools to gain accreditation and recognition for their achievements in developing an effective whole school approach to anti-bullying and embedding good practice.
The event at Snibston is also a chance for children and staff to feedback on the success of the scheme and for young people to put forward their ideas for Anti-Bullying week in November.
