Youngsters battle to be best whizz on two wheels

Primary school children are to battle it out in a contest to see who really is a whizz on two wheels.
Youngsters from eight schools will try to weave, wheel and manoeuvre their way to victory at an inter-schools cycle challenge.
Organised by Leicestershire County Council, the finals will be held at their local secondary schools.
Peter Lewis, Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, will be giving out certificates, medals and trophies at one of the finals at Bushloe High School in Wigston.
He said: “This challenge seeks to show children that cycling is not only fun, but also aims to help improve their skills and boost their confidence in the saddle.
“We have some very talented young people and we expect there will be some stiff competition.
“We hope this initiative will encourage more youngsters to cycle and encourage them to think about ways other than the car when it comes to getting to and from school.”
In the finals, teams of four pupils will go head-to-head in demonstrating skills such as weaving through cones and taking part in a cycle relay.
The initiaitive is all part of the council’s Choose How You Move campaign which encourages people to get fit, have fun, save money and help the environment at the same time.
