Reduce waste by recycling "home and away"

Recycling "home and away” is the theme of a week-long campaign aimed at reducing waste.
The aim is to encourage people to recycle wherever they are - at home, at work or out and about - in a bid to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.
The Leicestershire Waste Partnership, which is made up of the county, borough and district councils, is holding a series of roadshows so people can find out more about when and where to recycle.
Recycling Week takes place from June 18 – 24 and events will take place throughout the month at:
oTuesday, June 19, 8am – 12.30pm: Melton Farmers Market, Scalford Road
oThursday, June 21, 9am – 2pm: Loughborough Retail and Moroccan Market
oSaturday, June 23, 11am – 5pm: The Heart of the Forest Festival, Measham Leisure Centre
oSaturday June 30 & Sunday July 1, 10am-5pm Foxton Locks Festival, Gumley Road, Foxton
oSunday July 1, 8am - 4pm Market Bosworth Country Show, Cow Pastures Farm, Market Bosworth
Guy Jackson, Chairman of the Leicestershire Waste Partnership , said: There is a lot we can do, both at home and away, to reduce the amount of rubbish we send to landfill.
At home we can recycle many different items such as paper, cans and glass and if we all recycled two drinks bottles and two drinks cans while out and about each week for a year, we will have saved almost 500,000 tonnes of C02.
That’s the equivalent to 80,000 people taking round the world flights!”
As part of Recycling Week, county schools have been invited to enter a competition.
They’ve been asked to show what schemes they have in place to reduce waste in school as well as demonstrate how they have promoted recycling to encourage children to recycle more and spread the message to their families
