Right royal celebrations on offer

A right royal range of celebrations is taking place at county council venues, to mark the Diamond Jubilee.
Beacon-lighting, vintage newsreels and merry monarch photos are among the attractions on offer from Leicestershire County Council.
David Sprason, cabinet member for adults and communities, said: “There’s something for everyone in our wide range of activities to mark the Diamond Jubilee – there’s no excuse not to celebrate in Leicestershire!”
Highlights include:
• The screening of archive British Pathe newsreels about the Queen at Snibston’s Century Theatre, from 11am-3pm on Sunday, June 3rd – entrance is free, with a valid museum ticket.
• The lighting of a beacon at Beacon Hill country park, at a free event from 9pm onwards on Monday, June 4th
• A Merry Monarchs craft event at Charnwood Museum, where you can make your own royal creation and wear it on the Monarch in a Minute set. Slots, costing £2.50 per child, must be booked and paid for in advance on 01509 233 754.
• 2km guided walks at Bosworth Battlefield, from Saturday, June 2nd to Tuesday, June 5th, plus a costumed walk (for children) on Wednesday, June 6th and a 12km walk on Sunday, June 10th, to explore the actual battlefield.
