Would ewe believe it? Surprise new addition to Beacon Hill
A surprise new addition has joined the ranks of furry faces at Beacon Hill Country Park.
One of the county council-run park's Hebridean sheep gave birth unexpectedly at the weekend.
Senior ranger Mick Moffatt said: "We did not realise the sheep was pregnant so it was a complete surprise when the pair were found.
"We are pleased to say that mum and her baby daughter are doing well.
We hope our new addition will have a happy life here at Beacon Hill and assist the other sheep with the valuable work they are doing to help restore the heathland.”
The mother sheep joined the park in March.
Beacon Hill is home to a mixture of Hebridean and Manx Loaghtan sheep who keep down invasive species, as well as five alpacas who help protect them and English Longhorn cattle which help provide the right amount of grazing at the park.
The National Forest Wood Fair will also be held at Beacon Hill on Sunday, August 26 and Monday, August 27.
