Star sings for Snibston steampunks
A cabaret star known as ‘The Songbird of Trafalgar Square’ will be delighting audiences at Coalville’s Snibston Discovery Museum on Saturday (March 10th).
Lili La Scala will be singing as part of the spectacular live performance event, New Age of Discovery.
Audiences will be transported to an imaginary scenario in the year 2100, where oil has become so expensive that sci-fi characters known as Steampunks reopen Snibston as a coal mine.
The performance, known as the New Age of Discovery, has been commissioned as part of Snibston’s Transform programme of artistic commissions.
As well as a performance from Lili, the event will include torchlight tours through the museum, audio installations, a 3D film and a public projection.
Lila La Scala said: I'm so excited to be performing at this marvellous event - it's such a fabulous opportunity to do something a little bit different in an unexpected place."
Maurice Maguire, Leicestershire County Council’s lead artist for the Transform Programme, said: We have a fantastic event planned, offering a whole new view of the museum and its links to a sustainable future.”
The event starts at 6pm on Saturday, March 10th. Ticket numbers are limited and are on sale now at Snibston, tel. 01530 278 444, email: snibston@leics.gov.uk or buy your tickets online at www.goleicestershire.com.
