Introduction
The Leicestershire Local Access Forum is an independent official body, set up by the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 to represent the interests of everyone concerned with public rights of way (footpaths, bridleways and byways) and access to the countryside - including walkers, horse-riders, cyclists, 4x4 users, farmers and landowners, conservation groups, health issues and public transport users.
The Forum covers the area of the Leicestershire County Council (LCC). Another Forum covers the City of Leicester. The Forum debates topical countryside access and recreation issues and advises Government at all levels, and particularly the County Council.

Meetings of the Forum:
Members of the public are welcome to attend all main meetings of the Forum.
The next meeting is on Thursday 28 February 2012 at 6:00pm in the Framland Committee Room, County Hall, Glenfield.
Dates of other future meetings and their times and locations are listed on this web page.
The agendas, minutes and some papers and reports for meetings are available to download from this web page. The papers for the next meeting will be added about a week before the meeting takes place.

Leicestershire has a network of more than 3000 kms of definitive paths. There are also permissive paths, Country Parks and other opportunities to walk cycle, and ride. All of this needs to be managed and promoted. If you want to contribute to the forum, you can find out how to join here.
