Control - Minerals Local Plan

Leicestershire possesses a wide range of mineral resources, including nationally important reserves of igneous rock. Other minerals extracted include: limestone; sand and gravel; gypsum; brick and fire clays; coal; and oil. In addition to providing the detailed policy framework within which proposals for the working of these minerals are assessed, the Minerals Local Plan (MLP) seeks to safeguard resources, promote recycling initiatives and encourage the bulk transportation of minerals.
