Miners' Mornings
Miners' Mornings are a range of talks relating to miners, coal mining, local industry and it's impact on the area. Primarily aimed at adult audiences but open to all ages.
Miners mornings run from 10.30 -12.00am on the third Thursday of every month (except January).
Part of the Meet the Experts (Adults) programme of events.

Museum curator Fiona Ure explores the wide range of medicines from the past, from home grown herbal remedies to early pharmacuticals from the village store.

Title: From ornamentation to space exploration (Plastics 1851 – 1980)
Today, plastics are used everywhere – in carpets, clothing, cars, sport, medicine: the list goes on and on. The beginning was celluloid, used for combs and cine film. One hundred years ago Bakelite appeared and was used in thousands of ways. Later came polythene, nylon and Perspex. Plastics are always being developed and new applications found. This talk, by David Girdler, outlines their history and development. There will be a display of plastics items, posters, slide presentation and a mystery object.

Title: "The History of the Century Theatre "
Century Theatre volunteer, John Beasley, tells the wonderful story of the ingenious mobile theatre that took drama to post war Britain.and in it's 60th year now hosts a wide range of events at Snibston. Includes a behind the scenes tour of the theatre.

Title: "Building Donington le Heath Manor House "
Richard Knox, who has worked at the Manor House since 1997, discusses the architecture, make-up and history of Donington le Heath Manor House, a medieval gem on the outskirts of Coalville, including how it was built in the thirteenth century.
