First new building now open!

The new Winterbeck Building at Belvoir High School

The first new secondary school building built as part of the Melton and Vale of Belvoir Schools’ reorganisation is now open.
The impressive new £6.5 million Winterbeck building at Belvoir High School is now finished and is already being used by pupils.
A striking central atrium, a new and bigger library, five purpose-built science labs, a new and bigger library and a virtual learning environment IT suite are all included in the new building.
The existing Belvoir building is also being refurbished with work due to be completed in September.  The design and technology area is being improved, the canteen extended and there will be a new cyber café and a new car park.
Jon Sherwin, headteacher at Belvoir High School, said: “The new Winterbeck building is fantastic and we are delighted that work is complete.  It has excellent, state-of-art facilities and is a building that pupils and staff can be very proud of.”
Belvoir High School has changed its age range from 10-14 to 11-16 as part of the local schools’ reorganisation.  The school has also put in a bid for specialist science status.
