Leicestershire
Together Declaration on Climate Change

The declaration has been developed by ENABLE on behalf of Leicestershire Together
for all Leicestershire organisations wishing to commit to tackling climate change. The Declaration is
a public statement from an organisation wanting to tackle the issue of climate change by taking action
in their organisation and in their communities.
ENABLE has developed the declaration, adapted from the Nottingham Declaration, for
all Leicestershire organisations wishing to commit to tackling
climate change. Any
organisation, whether a business, charity, voluntary organisation, school, Parish or Town Council, Strategic
Partnership, police, health or fire services can sign up to. A number of organisations have already
signed including the Leicestershire and Rutland Federation of Women’s Institutes and The Leicestershire
Rural Community Council. See the
list of organisations that have already signed
up.
Please join us by committing your organisation to face this challenge by:
- Recognising the need for urgent action at all levels to combat climate change
- Adopting public plans to reduce carbon emissions
- Enabling members, service users and clients to reduce their own carbon emissions
- Supporting national legal targets for green house gas emissions
- Working in partnership with government and others to reach or exceed these targets
- Working together to inspire and encourage action on this issue and make Leicestershire
greener
