It is a large, busy library in the centre of the town on Granby Street, opposite Queen's Park. There is a ramp at the front of the building and the main part of the library is on one level, with a ramp or steps up to the children's area.

The library has wide aisles and disabled parking space is available in the nearby town car park.

The library has recently been refurbished, and there are now 2 brand new class rooms in our learning suite, a refurbed meeting room and ICT Suite all with smart boards for hire, at very competitive rates. Loughborough is the main library in Charnwood and Clare Lister, Ann Bywater and John Bolton the Supervisors, are based here. Larger Collections can be found in Leicester and Nottingham.

Tipping Permits

Do you want to tip waste using a van or trailer? Did you know that you need a short term tipping permit to do this? Call the Customer Service Centre on 0116 305 0001 to apply and then collect your permit from Loughborough Library.

Local Studies & Family History

Ancestry Library Edition is available in this library free of charge to do family history research.

The Family History Area is open and available for family history research 7 days a week during normal library opening times.

Loughborough Library's Local Studies Reference Collection isopen to the public:
10am - 12noon and 2pm - 4pm weekdays. By appointment only on Saturdays and closed Sundays
Historical newspapers are now only available on microfilm.

Other languages

Loughborough Library has a wide selection of books and dvds in Asian languages.

There is a selection of novels in Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Polish and Spanish as well as a selection of European films in the original language on dvd.

There are books, cds and other resources to help people who are learning a language.

There is also a selection of dual language picture books for children in the children's area.
