WHISTLEBLOWING PROCEDURE FOR EMPLOYEES
The purpose of the Whistleblowing Procedure is to ensure that anyone wishing to raise issues of concern knows who to approach. These concerns may be about:
- bad practice
- possible fraud or corruption; or
- any other matter which seems to be against the interests of the public, the Council or its staff
The procedure makes it clear that any employee who uses the procedure and “blows the whistle” in good faith will be protected from victimisation. The procedure gives contact details for the Council’s external auditor and the Audit Commission, who can provide external advice. The procedure also encourages trade union members to contact their trade union for assistance or advice if they are concerned.
