Code of Conduct for Employees
The standard of conduct expected from Council employees is set out in an Employee Code of Conduct which was approved by the Standards Committee on 18th June 2007 and by the County Council on 26th September 2007. The Government has promised to introduce a new statutory Code of Conduct for Local Government Employees, and consulted on a draft Code in 2004. In the absence of anything further happening at a national level, the County Council has adopted a Code of Conduct based on the consultative draft which is backed up by more detailed policies and procedures which have been agreed and reviewed over recent years by the Standards Committee and the Employment Committee. The County Council’s Organisational Values underpin all aspects of the Code and describe the attitudes and attributes expected of all Leicestershire employees.
