Leicestershire ‘Place Survey’ - Thousands have given their views on improving County
A wide-ranging survey was sent to thousands of homes across Leicestershire at the end of last year to find out how to make the County a better place to live.
It was carried out jointly by Leicestershire County Council and the District Councils on behalf of Leicestershire Together and the district Local Strategic Partnerships.
The survey in Leicestershire was one of hundreds that happened across the country following new Government requirements.
The recipients, who were selected at random, were asks for their views on:
- What makes an area a good place to live
- What most needs improving
- Satisfaction with existing public services
- How effective agencies are at working together to deliver improvements
- How much residents get involved in community affairs such running local clubs.
In total, more than eight and a half thousand people across Leicestershire completed the survey.
The findings from the research will be used to see how well the County and District Councils and their partners, such as the Police and the NHS, are doing at delivering the services that matter to residents and to decide what needs doing differently in the future.
The headline results from the Leicestershire surveys (together with the results for all local authorities nationally) were originally scheduled to me made available by the Audit Commission and the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) in March 2009. However, this timetable was considerably delayed in order to allow the CLG and Audit Commission to complete detailed quality assurance work on the methodology prescribed nationally. This process was required as a result of new government guidance being released on standards for official statistics.
The CLG and Audit Commission are now beginning the process of disseminating the findings.
