We are developing Leicestershire’s second Local Transport Plan (LTP), which will set out our plans for traffic and transport over the five-year period from 2006 to 2011.
Your opinions were essential for the process, and a consultation leaflet, including a short questionnaire, was available from the beginning of November in libraries and County Council Service Shops for you to make your views known.
Consultation period: 22nd October 2004 to 14th January 2005.
Who can get involved: Open to all.
How can I get involved? Online through this LTP consultation leaflet. Pick up a consultation leaflet from your local library or service shop. Ring to ask for a leaflet free on 0800 056 6765. e-mail a request for a leaflet to us at tpp@leics.gov.uk.
We were consulting on the Governments proposed increase in council tax of almost 7%. The main services provided by the County Council are; Education, Social Services, Roads, Waste Disposal, Libraries and Public Transport. The increase in Government funding for next year will be much less than is needed to maintain key services such as Social Services and Waste. To meet the cost and demand pressures on our services and restrict the council tax increase to a more reasonable level means we have a significant funding gap for next year.
In setting the budget the County Council has to balance the needs of service users and council tax payers. Please help us by telling us what you would prefer by submitting your views on the on-line form by clicking here. Please submit your views by December 22nd 2004.
Consultation period: Concludes December 22nd 2004.
Who can get involved: Open to all.

Following concerns raised by residents about the speed and volume of traffic using Saffron Road, South Wigston, a traffic calming scheme is now proposed.
Careful consideration has been given to the type of traffic calming techniques to be used and following extensive public consultation, which included a public exhibition in July 2004, the proposed measures are deemed the most appropriate in meeting the scheme objectives without being detrimental to local traffic needs. As a result of feedback following the consultation process a pelican crossing near the Tigers Road junction is now included in the scheme.
Consultation Period: 15th April 2004 to 6th August 2004
Who can get involved: Open to anyone in and around the area

Following concerns raised by residents about the speed and volume of traffic using Park Road, Belvoir Drive and Valley Road, a road safety scheme is now proposed.
Careful consideration has been given on the type of traffic calming techniques to be used and following initial consultation with the emergency services and bus company the proposed measures are deemed the most appropriate in meeting the scheme objectives without being detrimental to local traffic needs.
A public exhibition of the proposals was held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Church Hall, Park Road on the 17th September 2004.
The exhibition was very well attended. We estimate around 400 people may have passed through the doors.
