Freedom of Information

The main aim of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) is to make public authorities more open and transparent. Under the Act you can request almost any information held by Leicestershire County Council.

How to make a Freedom of Information request

To make a Freedom of Information request, please use the on-line request form.

Please set out what information you would like to see and details of how we can contact you. Upon receipt of your request the Council will acknowledge receipt of your request within 5 working days and provide a response within 20 working days.
There are some exemptions that prevent certain information being released; however we will always endeavour to release as much information as possible.
If exemptions are applied, you will be told what they are and why they apply to your request. You can challenge any decisions you disagree with. More information is available from the Information Commissioners website.
