Gender Equality Scheme

The Equality Act 2006 has placed a legal duty on all public authorities to promote gender equality.
When carrying out its functions, creating policies and delivering all services, the County Council needs to have due regard to the need to:
  • eliminate unlawful discrimination,
  • eliminate unlawful harassment, and
  • promote equality of opportunity between men and women.
A Gender Equality Scheme has been produced by the County Council.  The scheme identifies the council’s gender equality goals and contains an action plan of how these will be achieved over the next three years.
A copy of the scheme is available at the link below.
Under our Gender Equality Scheme the Council will also publish a range of information relating to employment and services.
