5.1The number of first time entrants to the youth justice system.
The target is a year on year reduction and therefore the baseline for year 1 has to be set at the end of 2005/06. Current projection for 2005/06 is 1,276 first time entrants (based on date to end December 2005)

5.2 The percentage of  young people prevented from further offending after receiving a reprimand.
Note: This will be measured in two cohorts:
Those receiving reprimands between 01/04/06 and  30/06/06(Cohort 1) and between 01/04/07 and 30/06/07 (Cohort 2)
The aim is to achieve an increase in the percentage prevented from further offending in Cohort 2 – as measured at 30th June 2009.
(Baseline prevented from further offending set in 2003 is 64%)

This is one of 4 indicators which make up a vulnerable children reward target within the C&YP Block. This indicator will therefore be measured under the C&YP Block. Another of the 4 indicators is to increase the number of young people completing drug and alcohol treatment programmes which also directly supports Outcome 4 above
