General Information |
Day ServicesWhat is it?Day services funded by Social Care Services are provided for people who require assistance with basic tasks of daily living and who will in addition benefit from having these needs met in a setting away from their home. It offers opportunities to learn new skills and hobbies or relearn old ones, meet new friends and different people, join in with organised activities and events, and enjoy trips out and visits to places of interest. Meals and refreshments are included and transport arranged if needed. Day services are organised by Social Care Services and voluntary organisations – often in community centres, colleges or in purpose built centres. How do I get help?Initially you will need to speak to a Duty Officer who will to discuss your circumstances with you. Social Care Services has a criteria for services it provides. They may offer you advice and information or, if required, arrange an assessment of your needs at home. You can arrange for a family member, carer or friend to be present when we visit. We will talk to you about what difficulties you have with every day tasks and how best we may be able to help you. Cost ImplicationsWe have set charges for attending a day centre. See Charges for Social Care Services for more details. Who to contact?Your local Social Care Office. You will need to ask for the Adult Access Duty Officer. Also see the Day Care Publications page.
