Disabled Facilities GrantsIntroductionDisabled
Facilities Grants were introduced in 1989 and are provided in Leicestershire by the local Borough or
District Councils (called local councils from now on). They provide financial help for disabled people
who need an adaptation to their home. Examples of works the grant might cover:
Social Care Services have responsibility for assessing peoples
needs
and arranging community care services. If Social Care Services assess a disabled person as needing major
adaptations to their home in order to allow them live as independently as possible, they will recommend
that an application should be made for a Disabled Facilities Grant.
