Breaking the Barriers

Employment Development Officers

An Employment Development Officer is someone who knows a lot about different jobs and the skills required to do the job. They will also give you information and advice about ways into work.

How do they work?

They will meet up with you and talk about the work you want to do.
  • They will help you to work out whether it is possible
  • They will draw up an action plan with you
  • They will support you to achieve your goals

What do they do?

  • Assess the strengths and skills that you need to help you into work
  • Look at the jobs you could do
  • Help you to find work that is right for you
  • Help you to prepare for work
  • Give advice and support to employers when you get a job
  • Help you to keep your job
