Commissioning Strategy for Short Breaks for Adults with Learning Disabilities 2009 to 2014

Social Care and Health will work together to make sure there are good short breaks for people with learning disabilities and their families and carers in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The purpose of this strategy is to have a five year strategic plan for the development and improvement of Short Break services in the local area. This includes Leicestershire County Council, Rutland County Council and the NHS.  Our intention is to work within the national policy frameworks, linking these to local priorities and the availability of resources at a local level. The strategy takes account of the different needs that are found across Leicestershire and Rutland,
The Strategy aims to build on and reflect the requirements of current and future Short Breaks provision by taking into account what people using services, parents and family carers have told us would help support them, and it has been informed by the (Leicester City, Leicestershire and Rutland Councils' + Leicester and Leicestershire Primary Care Trusts') strategy - "Leicestershire, Leicester & Rutland Cross Authority Strategy for Short Breaks 2008 to 2013"
