The Research Governance Framework

What is Covered?

The Research Governance Framework applies to all research that relates to the responsibilities of the Secretary of State for Health. This includes research by:

Academic or independent organisations within social care agencies
Social care agencies
Students as part of their training.

RGF covers social care for both adults and children and families. It is expected that when new arrangements for providing services to children are introduced the standards of RGF will continue to apply.

For adult services RGF applies to all service users and carers receiving services from the Department whether these are via in house services or the independent sector.
