Carers' Strategy 2002 - 2005'Caring in Leicestershire' - Improving services for Carers in Leicestershire 2002-2005ForewordThis Plan reflects the range and diversity of carer support and recognises the very significant contribution of carers towards making it possible for vulnerable people to live in their communities.
The primary objectives are to address the requirements of the Carers and Disabled Children Act 2000 and the following five elements of the National Carers' Strategy:
The Carers' Plan includes a three year Action Plan. It is based on evidence from research commissioned by the Social Services Department and will support the development of carer support services in partnership with health, housing, independent sector agencies and carers themselves. The Carers' Special Grant will be directed to implement the key objectives of this Carers' Plan, in line with the Department of Health Guidance. The County Council’s intention is that carers of people who live in the County of Leicestershire and all those with responsibilities for their support, should find this Carers' Plan of assistance in bringing about improvements in services to support carers in their caring role.
