What happens when you need Social Care Services?

What can you expect from us?

We will:
  • listen carefully to what you have to say, offer advice and, if necessary, provide support to help you;
  • involve all organisations (for example, health visitors, schools or doctors) that could potentially provide help and advice (we will work in a co-ordinated way with these organisations to help you); and
  • keep you up to date with what staff are doing and thinking, and give you the name of the main person who will be your point of contact.
If you are going to receive services, we will try our best to arrange for you to get what you need as soon as possible.
For adult services, we will write down the details about what services you are going to receive, and explain what costs there will be, if any. This is called a Care Plan.
There are different types of Care Plan for children’s services that explain what services and support are going to be provided.
If you don’t meet our eligibility criteria, there are other organisations throughout the county that may be able to offer you advice and support.
The member of staff you are in contact with will be able to give you details of other organisations that may be able to help you.
