An adopted child is entitled to the same range of social services and other support, based on their need, as any child would be.
This could be, for example, special educational and medical services, as well as advice and counselling.
In the first 3 years after the adoption order is made:
Please contact the authority that placed your child as it has a legal responsibility to offer support for the first three years after the adoption order is made.
After that:
Please contact the authority in which you live. If you're not sure which authority covers your area, you can use the Local Authority Finder
To find out more about the range of post-adoption support available, please contact the Adoption Team
