Leicestershire Working Together Agreement

So what is it all about and what difference will it make to me?Class surrounding the Working Together Agreement poster
The Leicestershire Working Together Agreement is a written list of how children and young people would like to be treated by adults and will treat adults in a similar way.
Work started in creating the agreement back in November 2005 and following a long series of consultations with children and young people from January to March 2006, the final version of the Working Together Agreement was adopted in April 2006.
After the words were agreed, a small group of young people from Gartree and a young person who was in the care of the Local Authority spent a long time coming up with some drawings which would help to promote what the Working Together Agreement was all about. They also came up with the suggestions of promoting the Working Together Agreement through posters, visible logos and by each child and young person having a yellow wristband with the words Working Together Agreement written on it.
These posters, wristbands and a logo were sent to all schools and to all venues where children and young people go to such as youth clubs and Connexions centres and libraries in October 2006. If the agency displays the logo, children and young people will know that the adults working there will treat them as to how they wish as shown in the Working Together Agreement.
The young people who helped develop the Working Together Agreement officially launched it through the newspapers and were presented with ‘A Working Together Agreement shield’ acknowledging their contribution. The shield will be awarded to other young people or teachers in future years within their school who demonstrate their commitment towards the principles of the Working Together Agreement and this will be decided upon by the school council.
You can comment on whether you think the Working Together Agreement is working through the attached form. All information will be treated as confidential. I would like to thank you for taking the time to complete the comments form as it will help to make sure that if things need to change then we can try and make sure that it doesn’t happen again.
