What Services are Available for Carers?

There is a range of services that the Department can offer to support you. These could be services provided to the person for whom you are caring, or to you, or a combination of both.

Help in the home - shopping, laundry
Personal/social care services – help with caring tasks, assisting the cared for person to maintain social contacts
Day care for the cared for person
Respite care – a short break from a few hours, days to a few weeks for the cared for person. This may be provided in a variety of settings, including your own home
Information – on benefit entitlements, on what other support is offered by other agencies/organisations
