Older People
|
![]() Leicestershire County Council wants all residents of Leicestershire, regardless of their age to be well, happy and fulfilled. There are many different ways in which the County Council works to support older people and we provide a wide range of information, support and services to help us do this well. The term ‘older people’ can suggest different age groups, depending on each individual and their circumstances. The variety of services available means we have something to offer everyone, whether they are 50 years old or 90 years old.
You can get involved in helping to influence decisions about services for older people through the Older People's Engagement Network (OPEN)' or the Leicestershire & Rutland Minority Ethnic Forum.
The Leicestershire Older Person’s Handbook "Ageing Well in Leicestershire" brings together lots of information about different services useful to people of the age of 50 and over.
We work with other agencies such as the Police and NHS to safeguard and prevent the abuse of older and vulnerable people using agreed policies and procedures (Reporting abuse of older people). Working alongside the NHS we support older people to manage their Health. We are part of Leicestershire and Rutland's Decisions at Life's End (DALE) Service which supports older people who choose to spend their final days at home in familiar surroundings with their loved ones around them.
With partners such as The Pension Service, Borough/District Councils, Age Concern, and Help the Aged, we aim to encourage older people to claim their Older People's Entitlements and give advice on Welfare Rights
