Many
of the objects on display at Snibston have been donated to Leicestershire’s Museums Service by members
of the public. Become part of Leicestershire’s heritage by contributing your items to our collections and Sharing
your
Story with us.
Recent donations include a painting of the Century
Theatre created
by architect Tim Foster (of Foster Wilson Architects) who worked with the Century Theatre crew when
he was a student.
In October 2009, this oil painting of Levi Lovett (of the National Union of
Minerworkers), dated 1924, was donated in memory of George and Reenie Clay and Family.
In
December 2009
two historic Steiff bears joined Snibston’s important toy collection. The bears were made around 1910
in the Steiff workshop, Germany, and are the first items from this highly-celebrated manufacturer to
be exhibited at Snibston.
Sometimes
we ask local people to lend items for specific exhibitions, items
are safely returned following the closure of the exhibition.
