The Open Museum
Leicestershire's Open Museum is a 'museum without walls' that can deliver museum collections and displays to your communities and venues.
The Open Museum operates loan schemes and also facilitates community projects. We always try and tailor our services as closely as possible to our many users.
The Open Museum can provide objects, skills and advice to groups wishing to create their own displays and carry out their own projects. Get in touch with us to find out more.
The Open Museum has 3 schemes and we can lend you works of art, objects, and small ready-made displays:
A collection of over 900 original works of art including paintings, original prints, drawings, sculptures, textiles and photographs.
A large collection of museum objects, models, replicas and natural history specimens.

Regular users of the Open Museum include Leicestershire schools, colleges, libraries, youth, local history and heritage groups, community and special interest groups as well as a range of local organisations who provide lifelong learning opportunities and activities that can benefit from the use of historic objects, art and displays. If your type of organisation isn’t mentioned, don’t worry, as long as you operate in Leicestershire we will do our best to help.
