The Minton Jug
|
Date: Early 1900’s Object
Details: Unlike the majority of public houses in Whitwick, the Crown and Cushion Public House on Silver Street did not have a cellar, so the beer barrels had to be stored on the ground floor. The Minton jug was used to carry beer from the barrels to serve the customers. It is very unlikely that the jug would have been washed between each use and most certainly would not
pass today’s
stringent hygiene laws. Themes: Working Life Find Out More: Acknowledgements: Maureen Partridge. Chris Matchett Tell Us More!
