Museum Collections

The Working Life Collections chart the traditional crafts, trades, industries and occupations of Leicestershire.

The work of traditional village crafts people such as the blacksmith, wheelwright, baker and clockmaker is well represented in these collections.

Shop and inn-keeping and the various aspects of public service and parish, borough and county governance are well reflected.

Of particular importance are the Mining and Transport Collections which are housed at Snibston Discovery Museum. This is the site of Snibston Colliery, which is now a Scheduled Monument.
