The Barker Family

These photographs are from Jacqueline Barker's family album.  The Barker family had been out in India for some years before Partition, attached to the British Army.  In 1947 Jacqueline's father was a teacher at the Sikh College.  At Partition, the family found themselves stuck on the Indian side, without the means to get home, and had to fend for themselves to make their way across the new border to Lahore, and then on to Karachi to board a ship back to England.
