The Heritage Gateway
If you want to look at Historic Environment Record data online, you can! The Leicestershire & Rutland HER has been online via the Heritage Gateway since January 2010. The Heritage Gateway is an English Heritage led project to put all sorts of historic environment data online. This includes data from English Heritage websites such as Pastscape, Viewfinder and the National Heritage List as well as Historic Environment Records across the country. At present over 50% of HERs have published data online in this way.
Our web enhancement project
Our data enhancement project has, so far, enabled us to put over 70% of our HER records online (over 12,500 records). We are adding further records to the Heritage Gateway on a regular basis. Various records across the whole of Leicestershire and Rutland have been published online, including all of the records we have for the boroughs of Melton and Oadby & Wigston. The online records do not include everything we hold here at county hall but they provide a good summary. Although you will find some records online for all parishes, only the parishes listed below have been completed!

New parishes 'Thringstone' and 'Hugglescote and Donington le Heath' are not in the list. If you do a map search the Gateway will find information for these parishes.
