Dimming of street lights

After carrying out a risk assessment, we will be dimming most of our brightest lights on main traffic routes at non-peak hours.  For further information see our Frequently Asked Questions.

Dimming will only be carried out when traffic flows are low, when a lower level of lighting will not affect road safety.  Lights will not be dimmed in areas with above-average crime rates or where CCTV surveillance equipment is in use, such as town centres.
