My estate has been finished for years but the roads are still in a terrible state, who do I contact?
Firstly if you’re not sure if your road is going to be adopted, go to www.leics.gov.uk/roadstatus
If the road has not yet been adopted (the status is S38 agreement or not publicly maintained) then contact your developer. You may want to contact us as well as we may be able to take action ourselves.
You can use our online Road Status Search facility to find out the current status of your road.
Once we have adopted the road we are responsible for streetlighting, grass cutting and maintenance of the road itself.
Contact our customer services centre on 0116 3050001 or email customerservices@leics.gov.uk

I have problems with a lack of parking or people parking in inappropriate locations on my estate, how can this be improved?
New estates are provided with limited off road parking in accordance with planning requirements. It is up to residents to park responsibly to ensure their neighbours can access their properties. The Council can impose parking restrictions but these are subject to consultation and may be objected to, and are not normally considered in residential estates due to difficulties with enforcement.
I live on a private street which is in a poor condition. How can I go about getting the road adopted and improved by the Council?
The Council can adopt existing roads which are not publicly maintained by using the provisions of Part XI of Highways Act. To find out more about this process click on the following link:
