May 2007 - Inner Relief Road - Planning permission granted
The completion of the Loughborough Inner Relief Road is a key component of the Loughborough Town Centre Transport Proposals. A planning application to enable the completion of Loughborough Inner Relief Road has been permitted by the Development Control Regulatory Board meeting of 17th May 2007 (item 12).
The complete planning application can still be viewed on the County Planning Application/Decision web pages
The next stage in developing transport proposals for Loughborough Town Centre will be the publication of Compulsory Purchase and Side Road Orders in autumn 2007. These Orders will allow the County Council to buy the land needed to construct the Inner Relief Road scheme, and to alter the existing adjoining highway network.
In parallel, the County Council continues to seek funding for these much needed improvements, the majority of which is hoped to come from the Department for Transport.
Work is currently programmed to commence on the Inner Relief Road during late 2009. Construction work on the associated town centre improvements will follow in 2010 with completion scheduled for mid 2011.
