Roman Cemetery revealed at Enderby, 10th September 2008 A small Roman rural cemetery containing six skeletons has been discovered at an archaeological dig in Enderby. The human burials were found during an excavation at the new park and ride site alongside Iron Age, Roman and medieval finds including pottery, a denarius - a type of Roman silver coin, and a number of brooches. Analysis of the skeletons, found close to the line of the former Fosse Way Roman road, will now take place to identify the gender, age at death, health and life style of the individuals they represent.

Tree-mendous future for park and ride, 19th February 2008 More than 3,000 trees will be planted at a new £9million park and ride facility aimed at tackling congestion. The joint City and County Council scheme will offer low-emission buses running every few minutes in to Leicester city centre and reduce the number of cars on the road. Work is due to start on the ground this autumn. Later this week, five trees and around 140m of hedgerow directly affected by the work will be removed from the site. This is being carried out now to prevent disturbing birds and other wildlife during springtime.
