Leicestershire Park and Ride

Park and Ride bus services are considered to be an effective way to tackle congestion on the main arterial routes in central Leicestershire, improve access to the city and help promote economic regeneration. Leicester is currently served by a highly successful park and ride site at Meynells Gorse, Leicester Forest East which opened in 1997 (for a Meynells Gorse  location plan - pdf, 65kb). The bus service operating this site typically carries 1750 passengers each day into the City Centre, diverting 200 cars each peak hour.
A second site opened at Enderby in November 2009 (Enderby location plan - pdf, 50kb) to the south west of the city centre close to M1 Junction 21 and Fosse Park retail centre. Information about the Enderby P&R service is avialable.
The project history of Enderby P&R and it's construction is available
A third site is opened at Birstall on 18th July 2011 (Birstall location plan - pdf, 70kb) to the north of the city adjacent to the A46 Leicester Western Bypass and the Hallam Fields development. Information about the Birstall P&R service is avialable.
