September 2007 - Bypass officially underway
An official ceremony to mark the beginning of work on the £15 million Earl Shilton bypass took place on Wednesday 12th September.
The County Council’s Deputy Leader Nicholas Rushton, Lead Member for Highways and Transportation, said ‘’This is excellent news for the residents of Earl Shilton. The bypass will improve safety, cut congestion and also reduce noise and pollution.

We look forward to working with the contractors, Alfred McAlpine Project Services, who have worked successfully for the Council in the past, notably Syston Northern Bypass and more locally on Hinckley Northern Perimeter Road.”
During the work, road users can contact the Customer Service Centre on 0116 305 0001. An on-site hotline number will also be advertised. For more information on Leicestershire’s road network visit www.leics.gov.uk/highways.
