Highway Design

The Engineering Design Group of Leicestershire Highways can provide a high quality of design and supervision services for a wide range of highway schemes that can vary in size from a simple priority junction to park and ride schemes, public realm schemes and major bypasses.

All design work is undertaken using the latest computer software and to the current design and adoption standards. The Group also undertakes work for external clients for design checks, detailed design and site supervision. All work is carried out to the highest quality and in accordance with our quality assured (ISO 9001:2008) procedures.

Our services include

Detailed geometric design – detail design of roundabouts, priority junctions, park and ride sites, public realm schemes and major bypasses using current design standards.	Works for developers under Section 38 and 278 Agreements – we also carry out design checks and site supervision for developers under Section 38 and 278 Agreements. Our services also include carrying out designs for developers.
MX Road – we use this specialist software for detailing vertical, horizontal alignments, contouring, earthworks outline and calculating areas and volumes.	Traffic signs and road marking design – designs undertaken for internal and external clients all in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002.
Drainage design – use of WinDes software to detail drainage and attenuation solutions.	Noise Insulation Regulations assessment – our experienced staff can carry out noise insulation assessments and produce before and after reports for all highway improvement schemes.
Preparation of bill of quantities – preparation of quantities to current standards.	CAD support – we can also provide CAD (computer-aided design) support for external clients.
Preparation of contract documents – contract documents prepared using NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contract.	Site supervision – we have experienced staff to manage supervision of all highway construction projects.
