Hinckley, Richmond RoadProposed Highway ImprovementsLatest update October 2008This scheme has now been approved and it is anticipated that works will commence in January 2009BackgroundThe County Council is proposing to provide improvements to the layout of the road at the entrance to Richmond Park on Richmond Road and outside the shops on Tudor Road. These proposals are intended to support and help build on the initiatives being pursued by Richmond Primary School to make travel to school safer for all.The Proposals
During the formal consultation for the original scheme design as shown on plan A that took place in March this year, concerns were raised by residents. Plan B shows the amended proposals. Scheme ObjectivesThe objectives of the scheme is to encourage parents and pupils to walk to school instead of using a car to drop their children off. This will lead to improved health and fitness by increasing levels of pupils walking or cycling and reduce traffic flows outside of school.
Public ExhibitionA public exhibition was held at Richmond Primary School on 30th November 2007 County Council Officers were in attendance to discuss scheme details and answer any queries.
