Routes to SchoolLatest update February 2007The
scheme is now substantially complete. Waymarkings designed by a pupil from Brocks Hill Primary School
will be laid along footways in the vicinity of the school to help parents and pupils identify the safer
routes to school.Latest update October 2006The scheme has now been approved for implementation, and construction has started on site. July
2006The comments received, both supporting and opposing the proposals, will now
be reported to the Highways and Transportation Lead Members Meeting for approval. Thank you for taking
the time to return the comment form.BackgroundThe
aim of the Safer Routes to School programme is to make roads safer and more accessible for pedestrians,
cyclists and public transport. In response to issues identified in Brocks Hill Primary School Travel plan, Leicestershire County Council has developed a scheme to improve footways / crossing points on the 3 main routes to the school. The scheme aims to encourage parents and children to walk to school instead of using a car to drop their children off. Subject to final approval, works are expected to start late summer 2006. The ProposalsThe proposals are intended to
support and help build on the initiatives being pursued by the school such as the star walker scheme.
